Meet Keketso Qhomane from the Kingdom of Lesotho. He is one of the finest citizen astronomers you could ever find in his country. It took PACS e-Lab over two years to find someone like him.
Keketso Qhomane is an undergraduate student of Geoinformatics at the University of Pretoria.
He delights in extracurricular activities in astronomy, leading a team of student astronomy enthusiasts from the Department of the BlueCraneSpace Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Pretoria.
We have known him for over a year, and he has been working with us on our astronomy citizen science projects.
For the past three years, we have sought to expand our cooperation into the Kingdom of Lesotho by engaging teachers, students, and space enthusiasts from Lesotho to spread astronomy and space science and fulfill our mission in the African continent. However, we couldn’t find any potential partner until we found Keketso Qhomane.
By donating this telescope to him, he proposes to enhance astronomy education and outreach in his country. He is very passionate about this field.
The African Astronomical Society and the IAU-GA 2024 donated this telescope. We are grateful for AfAS’s partnership. They’ve always got our back at PACS e-Lab.
