PACS e-Lab, through the Jean Pierre Grootaerd SSVI program, donates a telescope to our Malawian astronomy partner group called the Celestial Exploders, ably led by Bauleni Bvumbwe Maseko (he/him). The group’s leadership board consists of experts in GIS, remote sensing, Earth observation, and drone piloting.
The team will utilize the telescope for astronomy education and outreach. It will enable them to enhance astronomy education and awareness in Malawian schools as they continue participating in our citizen science projects.
The five new ESA career astronauts (class of 2022) and CERN reserve astronaut Slawosz Uznanski endorsed the telescope.
